Daxter, an installment in the Jak and Daxter series, brings many new features and innovations to both the series and the PSP. Not only is this game a huge step in the right direction for the franchise since the disappointing racing game for the PS2. Daxter still offers the same great comedy you’d expect from the series and builds on the graphics as well. Even though Jak isn’t present in this game, I’ll be honest, he won’t be very missed. Daxter is more than enough for this game especially on the PSP with limited controller functionality.
Each level contains multiple mission objectives including blasting enemies and collecting items, among other things. The game plays fairly similar to a majority of the platform games of today and almost anyone can pick up the game for the first time and start playing without difficulty, though the ever-moving camera can become quite annoying.
Overall Daxter is a well rounded game, that has something for everybody, if your a fan of the series or not. This game is one of the better platformers that has made its way to the PSP, and both the single player and multiplayer mode allow for hours of playing. And the missions will keep you on your toes even if its nothing new from the other games in the franchise, and the open enviroments make exploring fun. Multiplayer mode allows player to take part in bonus games that are all fairly fun. You can even hook the game up to a copy of Jak X: Combat Racing for extra unlockables.
This game is without a doubt worth downloading, fan of platformers or not. Bringing the series to PSP shows that some games are just best for handheld systems, and this game is no exception. Download the game now and get ready for a game that can only be described as pure fun.
